Levi Henry Joy (69), beloved
husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at 12:05AM this
morning. He was at home, surrounded by his family.
Born June 2, 1934 in Hayes, Kansas, Levi’s family moved to Oregon in
1941. He always considered Oregon as his home, though he left for many years to
serve our great nation in the US ARMY. Levi’s military career spanned over 32
years. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wartime eras.
Levi and Marjorie (his wife of 46 years), after raising 4 children
returned to Oregon in 1989 and settled in O’Brien to enjoy retirement. In 1999
Levi helped establish TC Computers in Cave Junction where he worked part-time in
the store as well as behind the scenes.
Levi was an active member of the Masons having transferred his
membership to Belt lodge #18, in Kerby, OR on Jan 04, 2001. He had
originally joined Caleb Butler Lodge in 1961 in Ayer, Mass and was raised to the
sublime degree of Master Mason on March 21, 1961.
Levi will be missed by many, and remembered fondly by those
fortunate enough to have had him in their lives. He is survived by his wife,
Marjorie, two sisters, Wanda Reames, & Doloris Rund (both of Portland, OR.), 4
children, Matthew Joy (Anchorage, AK), David Joy (Medford, OR), Ann Joy (Renton,
WA) & Monique Allen (O’Brien, OR), 9 grandchildren and many friends.
Levi’s bodily
remains have been cremated and placed at the Veterans National Cemetery in
Portland.
